The term phishing refers to a fraudulent attempt to obtain account information via email. The email directs customers to click on a web link, and tries to trick them into submitting banking passwords or other personal information to the scammers.
This is a common example of phishing that has targeted Associated Bank customers in the past year.
Customers who divulge their information risk losing funds in their accounts, identity theft, and more. All banks are vulnerable to such attacks.
